## A Momentary Meeting design document

A Momentary Meeting is about exploring an ever-changing world, and the fleeting interactions you have with other people along the way. A multiplayer text adventure where the links between "rooms" changes over time and occasionally you'll meet someone else in the same space. Your meeting is short lived however, as the ever changing world pulls you apart and thrusts you back somewhere nearby.

Originally I was going to do this as a Discord bot, but the limit of 500 channels per Discord is too limiting if there are lots of people playing.

- June to design the map, all the rooms and how they connect

- Links between rooms change overtime

- people get like paired together in rooms when they happened to me in the same place but that if they linger to long they get kicked out and the links to rooms change

- so for the map I was thinking you could have like a castle with like lots of rooms and multiple floors set instead of like I don't know I'll and and outside the castle there might be like a forest it was a good parts basically kind of just like your classic you know text adventure game

- there isn't really a win conditions for this game it's more kind of about you know wandering around and seeing what you can find like what places there are to explore and then occasionally you'll meet someone else you have seen in the same room as you and you can talk with them yeah
|
|
|
|
- and then yeah if you're in the same room as another person for too long the game will basically sort of kind of hint that you're being pushed apart by I don't know like the aether or some I don't know so people don't linger too long in rooms and then they can't I just get you know push it back the way they came or at new links and then we'll make the links between the rooms forcibly change in that case that ass like you can't kind of easily find your way back to talking with a person again

- remember to design the map so that it's big enough so that if like there are 100 people in the server then is to be like 250 rooms or something like that yeah
|

- If there are already two people in the same space, then a third person joining enters a new copy of that space, so the meetings between players are always 1-on-1, never group conversations.
|
|
|
|
- Even though the game is now in a web browser, it will require Discord sign in so we can ban people who write bad things in chat.
|
|

- The void: this place exists outside the ever changing world, and it's where all players start and end their play session. Players return here if they get disconnected from the server.
|
